Fields of Colour is a short documentary about Bagru Textiles, a company of artisan printers in Rajasthan, India. Their mission statement is an ever increasingly important message in this age of fast fashion and cheap clothes:
“Bagru Textiles is committed to bridging the gap between the artisans and workers, and those who enjoy their products. These two groups have been separated for centuries by middlemen and exporters. Bagru Textiles’ mission is to assist local entrepreneurial artisans market their textiles directly to consumers and spread awareness about market visibility with our KNOW YOUR SOURCE policy.”
As well as supporting Bagru Textiles by buying directly from their online shop, you can also book on to block printing workshops and tours of Bagru! Added to the bucket list.
This film was another find via the brilliant Square Eye Printing.
