Inky Giveaway Winner (fanfare)

On the 3rd of October I wrote a post about my visit to the House of Illustration in Kings Cross, and ran a little giveaway asking you all who your favourite illustrators are.

Up for grabs was a lovely little book, What Does An Illustrator Think About? by Quentin Blake, plus a personalised letterpress postcard.

There was a really interesting mix, from street art to traditional children’s illustration, but one entry in particular brought back so many happy memories for me and I hope it will for you guys too!

So, the winner of the of the Inky Giveaway is…

shirleyhughesRobyn Wilson Owen, with her vote for Shirley Hughes!

Shirley Hughes started out as a freelance illustrator in London, after studying fashion and dress design. She wrote and illustrated her first picture book for her own children in the late 1950s and went on to be published in 1960.

She’s won many awards (not to mention an OBE) including her book Dogger being voted the people’s favourite Greenaway winner of all time! Of. All. Time.

Did anyone else grow up wanting a dog simply called Dogger?

Thank you to everyone who entered and congratulations Robyn! I’ll be in touch about your prizes.

In the meantime, here were the mix of other illustrators and artists entered:

Arthur Rackham

Ian Beck

Quentin Blake
